James is an experienced and committed walker, and passionate about our mission to encourage and support everyday walking. His third sector experience includes Directorships of the Woodland Trust and Borders Forest Trust and he has extensive experience of working with Scottish Government politicians and senior officials. A Chartered Forester, James led on social policy for Forestry Commission Scotland (including communities, access, recreation and health).
He is a published author and a grandfather.
James took up the position as the Chair of our Board of Trustees in November 2024.
