Help us champion walking for a healthier Scotland
Paths for All, Scotland’s leading walking and wheeling charity, is seeking an experienced and passionate individual to join our Board of Trustees. As we work to expand our impact through fundraising and income generation, we are looking for a trustee with a strong background in fundraising to help guide and support our strategic growth.
About Paths for All
As Scotland’s national walking charity our mission is to support the people of Scotland to be physically active through walking. We know that walking (whether on foot or with a wheelchair or mobility aid) makes a valuable contribution to our physical, mental and social health. This is why we champion national walking programmes in schools, workplaces and communities and work in partnership to increase levels of physical activity, by helping to create inclusive, safe and attractive environments for walking.
The role of trustee
As a trustee, you will play a key role in supporting our mission and ensuring good governance. You will work closely with the Chair, fellow trustees, and the senior leadership team to provide strategic oversight and contribute to the success of our ambitious ‘Step It Up’ strategy.
We are particularly looking for a trustee who brings expertise in accountancy and financial management to support Paths for All in maintaining financial sustainability and good governance.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide strategic input and oversight to support Paths for All’s financial planning and management.
- Work with fellow trustees and the senior leadership team to uphold the charity’s values and mission.
- Support and guide the charity in developing a robust financial strategy.
- Ensure strong governance and compliance with charity financial regulations.
- Advocate for Paths for All, building partnerships and raising the charity’s profile within relevant networks.
Key skills and experience:
- Professional qualification in accountancy (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or extensive financial management experience.
- Passion for promoting physical activity and improving public health through walking.
- Strategic leadership skills with experience supporting charities or non-profits.
- Strong networking and relationship-building abilities.
- An understanding of charity governance and the third sector.
Time commitment
Board meetings take place quarterly in Stirling and last around three hours, including lunch. Additional committee meetings are held online as required. Trustees typically commit 1-2 days per quarter, including meetings, strategy sessions, and occasional events.
