Walks like these aren't just good for your body. They're where memories are made, stress melts away, and you can find a moment of peace.
Here's where our team love to wander in Scotland's natural beauty.
Family beach vibes
Anna, and her kids found a hidden gem at Seacliff beach near North Berwick. “It's a beautiful spot for a walk on a crisp winter day. My children loved it, so even on a chilly day we were there for ages. They were running in and out of the waves, clambering on rocks, drawing in the sand and doing cartwheels. Rosy cheeks and smiles all round."
Lunch break magic
Lynsie's go to lunchtime walk is Gean House in Alloa. “I like to go with my Jack Russel, Tilly. Every lunchtime we walk along this quiet road behind our house which has trees on each side and it’s lovely to hear the birds singing and squirrels climbing above you. Once we reach the bottom, we get the beautiful views of the Ochil Hills.”
A creative boost
Steven's all about those longer trails. One of his favourites is Maspie Den, through Falkland Estate and across the Lomond Hills. “There’s a great mix of walking trails, accessible paths, woodlands and river routes. It’s a short walk from Falkland and the Pillars of Hercules organic café, too, with opportunities for solo walkers and families.
Time spent in woodlands, beside water or capturing panoramic views is a muse for my creative work and really imparts a sense of love for the Scottish outdoors.”
Wondering at wildlife
Natalie shares why she’s lucky to have Newburgh beach nearby as one of her top walks. “It’s my favourite place to catch a sunrise! It is also a great place to spot wildlife. There are hundreds of seals there which is quite amazing! You can catch a bus from Aberdeen to Newburgh and the beach is only a short walk away.”
Rumbling and tumbling
Rachael is a big fan of the Hermitage, near Dunkeld. “One of my favourites. A lovely woodland walk leading up to a small circular building called Ossian's Hall. Inside the hall is an echoey chamber (with some big panels of scenes) that amplifies the sound of the waterfall outside, which you can see from a viewing platform and balcony at the other side of the hall. It's even more amazing after heavy rainfall!”
Up in the trees
Richard enjoys exploring the Glen Lednock circular path in Comrie. "It’s a stunning walk at any time of year. Magnificent oak trees and a river running through the gorge create wonderful cauldron shapes in the rock. It has an elevated walkway that makes you feel like you’re in parts of the tree canopy.”
