It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of our friend and colleague Deborah Fox. Deborah was 44 and passed away after a battle with cancer on Wednesday, 16th August.
Deborah, one of our Communication Managers, enjoyed a career with Paths for All for just over five years and, in that time, made a massive impact. She was hugely respected and valued by her colleagues.
Deborah joined us from a career in journalism, bringing a whole new set of skills into the team. Her enthusiasm, determination, drive, creative spirit, and love of her craft were infectious, and everyone enjoyed and learned from working with her. Deborah was always on hand to offer advice, tips and inspiration… or to gently ‘tweak’ what you had sent her!
Since learning of the sad news, we have had many memories and thoughts shared by staff within Paths for All and friends across many organisations we work closely with. Her laugh, her gorgeous smile, her glam heels, her reminders to "write things in human", her positivity, her friendship, her competitive streak, her ingenuity, her thoughtfulness, her warmth and generous nature, her love of a cheeky wee prosecco or cocktail and how full of fun, sparkle, and kindness she was. Our lives were all the richer for having had her in ours, even for a short time.
Our thoughts are with her daughter Ailsa, her family and friends at this time. It's clear that she was incredibly loved, and in turn, loved those around her.
It is a bittersweet truth that a beautiful life will leave much grief in its wake. Deborah was taken far too soon but she has left an indelible mark on all of us who had the privilege and joy of knowing and working with her.
'We always tell ourselves that the people we love will be around forever, until one day they aren’t anymore. I hope that you remember that they live on within you – in the way you infuse their care and kindness into everything you do.’
We have set up a Just Giving page, in Deborah’s memory, for anyone who wishes to contribute. The money raised will go to the family’s choice of St. Andrew’s Hospice, Airdrie.
