Bring your team together with the Step Count Challenge

Teams of workmates across the country are being invited to sign up for our walking challenge that will put a spring in their step.

A team enjoying a walk together

The Step Count Challenge, our fun, feel-good team event, starts on 2 May and will see colleagues motivating each other to walk and move more in and around the working day for eight weeks.

Last spring, over 830 teams took part, clocking up over 2.2 billion steps between them.

Now, more teams are being invited to sign up and benefit from all the challenge has to offer. Those taking part will be in with a chance of winning weekly prize draws and a one lucky winner will walk away with a grand prize of £1000 to spend at Macdonald Hotels and Resorts *.

Participants will also be able to track how much carbon they are saving by walking or wheeling more, sync their activity trackers to the Step Count website, and have access to tips, goals, and blogs to keep them on track.

Carl Greenwood, Paths for All’s Senior Development Officer said:

Walking is one of the simplest and best things we can do for our health and wellbeing, and being part of a team where everyone is supporting and motivating each other to move more makes it all the more fun and social.

The longer days and warmer weather make it easier to get outdoors more often, whether that’s for an active meeting or just leaving the car at home as part of your commute to work.

It doesn’t matter if you’re office-based, working at home, or a mix of both, you can still motivate each other to do things like lunchtime walks, standing phone calls, or bursts of activity during coffee breaks.

We’ll be supporting all our registered teams throughout the challenge with tips, blogs, goals and prizes, so sign up today and we’ll help you feel happier and healthier this autumn.

The Step Count Challenge runs twice a year, lasting eight weeks in the spring and four weeks in the autumn, and is open to all Scottish workplaces.

During the challenge, team members can sync fitness trackers to the Step Count Challenge’s website and message each another, while the more competitive teams can track their position on a nationwide leaderboard.

Everyone who registers will be in with a chance of winning the £1000 Macdonald Hotels and Resorts grand prize.
