Get Walking Lanarkshire offers a programme of free health walks across North and South Lanarkshire, from Cumbernauld to Symington and from East Kilbride to Newmains (and many places in between), making good use of the lovely parks and green spaces the area has on offer. Get Walking Lanarkshire is a partnership project between North and South Lanarkshire councils, NHS Lanarkshire and Paths for All. Its aim is to encourage more people to walk more often and improve their health and wellbeing by being active in the outdoors.
The project supports existing health walks, sets up new health walks, trains and supports volunteer walk leaders, working in partnership with various local organisations to make this happen. The project is hosted by North Lanarkshire Council.
The walks are for everyone, but are specifically designed to encourage those that would benefit from becoming (more) active to give walking a go. The routes are easy and avoid tricky terrain and all walks have wheelchair friendly and buggy friendly route options.
Health Walks are a great way to meet new people whilst walking at your own pace. It's exercise with the added bonus of friendly company, a good chat and fresh air!
Get Walking Lanarkshire is a Dementia Friendly Walking accredited project.
